We went to the shops on Saturday morning so I could check my PO Box and withdraw money from an ATM. We decided to have a junky breakfast. Jac opted for a pie and chips from Jesters Pies. The hot chips at this particular Jesters are really good as they tend to cook them to order, so you get them really fresh, piping hot and crisp. They have three kinds of salt for you to choose from: plain salt, chicken salt and garlic salt. The chicken salt and garlic salt are hell saltifying (I made that word up – it means mega salty), but are sooooo good on hot chips. Jac chose to have garlic salt on her chips.

Jac chose the Footy Pie, which is filled with chunky steak and mushrooms, and topped with bacon and tasty cheese. I love Jesters Pies – I love that the pastry isn’t typical flaky puff pastry – it’s more chewy (I tend to go for the chewy version of things – I prefer chewy cookies to the crunchy or crumbly kind anyday, for example – are you into chewy or crunchy?). My favourite Jesters is the Pavarotti, which is filled with skin-free chicken with bacon and button mushrooms in a light cheese sauce.

See the gooey cheese on the right?

While Jac tucked into her pie, I went with good old McDonald’s and got myself a Sausage and Egg McMuffin.

Yeah, I know it’s bad to eat junk food. But it tastes good.

Can’t say I’m a big junk food fan, but the photos on your other posts are great; I love it, it’s like I’m there eating too :-P. Makes lurking all the more enjoyable.
And do those chips look good; I’ve never tried garlic salt but I think I’m going to have to!
Definately chewy by the way. Chewy and dense, like a good thick brownie. Mmm…
Keep up the good work!
Ed
Mmmm, garlic salt…… Ever try celery salt? Most hot dog places in Chicago use it on their burgers & dogs, etc. but I bet it would be good on fries too….
You guys are great and those fries look delicious…can I give you a link? Please…
Thanks for your comment, Ed. Garlic salt is definitely good, but you need a drink close by!
rixmail99, no, I haven’t tried celery salt. What does it taste like?
Emily, I sent you an email in reply to yours, today. :)
I’d send u some some if there was any for sale in Korea… kind of a celery seed taste with salt. Excellent on a burger.
1 tablespoon dried celery seed
2 tablespoons coarse salt
Process celery seeds in the blender or spice mill at highest speed until finely ground.
Add salt and process at high speed until the salt is as fine as you like. Store in a small jar with a tight lid.
Jac reckons she’s had celery salt and liked it. I’ll look out for some next time we’re at the shops. I’m not a real celery fan, but don’t mind it sometimes in the right dish. :)
God,
I am drooling just looking at the chips. I am back in Sing for just 1 week and Im missing the chicken salt chips already.
Had a good time in perth (in part due to your good advice) and reading your blog takes me back.
BTW, wheres Jesters? Is it in town?
Oh if u are eating on a budget I highly recommend Red Roosters whole cold chicken (the manger’s special). Beautiful with bread/chips and something alcoholic.
Hehehe Pegu,
So can you get chicken salt in Singapore?
Jesters is a franchise and can be found in a variety of locations! See the Stores link at the Jester’s site: http://www.jesters.com.au/site/
But not all Jesters do the hot chips. The pies are yummy though. My Mum used to buy a pack of half a dozen cold pies to heat up later.
I love BBQ chicken – Red Rooster, Chicken Treat, all of them!
Junk food is good! Otherwise, why are we working out :)
