And while we're on the topic of breakfast

23 May 2006

On the weekend: Jac’s grilled SPAM and cheese on toast.

She also had plain grilled cheese on toast. I believe the cheese was gouda. She likes her grilled cheese a little overdone, I think. I like it still bubbling and slightly more gooey. She’s content to let the crusts go black and eat around them, but ...

Stormy weather

23 May 2006

When I woke up this morning it was cold and raining. The sky was really dark, like it was evening. I soooo wanted to get back under the covers and go back to sleep with Jac and the cats. You know how lovely it is to be warm in bed, listening to the sound of ...

Quickie

21 May 2006

Thank you everybody for your comments/emails! (And keep ‘em coming! I love reading them!) I promise to respond to all the comments here and to reply to the emails, but I am still working on that chapter (I haven’t exercised for two days. I have been sitting here typing with my Mickey Mouse gloves on ...

Spew forth thy thoughts, oh tired wench.

19 May 2006

Right now, I’m listening to an old favourite cd I haven’t played for such a long time – Jagged Little Pill by Alanis Morissette. I forgot just how good “You Oughta Know” sounds played really loud on a Friday night, drowning out the washing machine.
This cd reminds me of the time I worked at ...

WCB 49

14 May 2006

While we were stuffing our faces with our Mothers Day lunch of roast pork and brownies with double cream and ice cream, the poor cats were in hiding on our bedroom window sill. The kids tend to get over-excited and chase them, so the cats have learned to stay out of sight whenever they visit. ...

Mothers Day, sweet

14 May 2006

For dessert we served the chewy chocolate brownies with a dollop of double cream, a scoop of So Good vanilla soy ice cream and a sprinkling of chopped peanuts.

Mmmmmmm, double cream.

The recipe for the brownies came from Jac’s “Good Housekeeping All Colour Cook Book”. It’s so easy. Gather ingredients, mix thoroughly in bowl, ...

Mothers Day, savoury

14 May 2006

Since last night, the house has smelled reeeeally delicious – we were both busy cooking for today’s Mothers Day lunch. After eating leftover chinese for dinner last night, Jac cooked up a pot of soup while I baked chewy chocolate brownies (details coming up). And as soon as we woke up this morning, we were ...

Some of this week's food, and weekend plans

12 May 2006

It’s been yet another hectic week. I’m pleased to report I have not scratched since Tuesday when I saw the doctor, and my hands are looking much better. My thumbs were especially bad (a cross between scabby and reptilian), but they have definitely improved. There is still a great deal of healing required though, ...

Hungry Jack's Bacon Double Cheeseburger with mushrooms …and the truth about my hands

9 May 2006

I had lunch with Jac today at Hungry Jack’s in Mount Lawley. We were in Mt Lawley because I had to go to the doctor (more on that later). We’ve both been absolutely dying to try the new Bacon Double Cheeseburger with Mushrooms, and so that’s exactly what we each had.

The first thing I ...

Sunday

9 May 2006

This is a belated post about Sunday just gone.
On Sunday morning we went to the Canning Vale Markets. We used to go to CVM (I’ve just created this acronym, which I think makes it sound a lot cooler than it really is… sounds like FHM or STM) all the time, but somehow, with ...
