Today’s lunch: squid pepper rice (AU$8.95) at Han’s. Fantastic! The squid pieces were ever so lightly battered, nicely seasoned and unbelievably tender, with little bits of garlic, sliced onion, fresh chilli and hmmm, a fleeting hint of lime somewhere in there (lovely!) – thumbs up!
Love squid tender

Mmm…this looks fantastic! The squid look like they’re in a tempura batter…nice and light. YUM!
*droolllll*
Mmmm..I havent had squid in such a long time!
Garlicky calamari is the best XD
seems like u like Hans food alot, mate. I never had a meal there, heard its not v asian taste.. but might just give it a go, since its just near to my work too… and u seem to highly recommend it all the time hahaa
The Home Cook,
When I ordered the dish I knew the squid would be battered but had no idea what exactly the batter would be – I’m very happy it was tempura-like. It was so delicious. Workmates who saw the photos when I got back to the office (the 3 inch screen on the camera is great for showing photos to people!) have said they’d like to try the dish themselves another time.
Kagenosuke,
Oh yeak, the garlickier the better!
wei,
Yes, it’s not the most authentic tasting, but if you can overlook that and just judge the food on deliciousness, many of their dishes are pretty enjoyable. If there was a good hawker food place nearby believe me, I’d never go back to Han’s! :)
Oooh… squid! *Good* squid, which is surprisingly hard to find. :P
weirdlittlepony,
Yeah, it was a bit of a gamble really. I could’ve ended up with rice and rubber for my lunch. :)
