Perth Royal Show 2007, Part 1

I’ve finally managed to sort through and upload my Royal Show photos. We had a great time at the Show – we went on the Sunday of the long weekend, and were there from around 9:45am to 7:30pm. We could’ve stayed on for the fireworks but were so very exhausted – we used up the last of our energy walking around searching for Bertie Beetle Gold showbags. We’d promised to get Bertie Beetle Gold bags for Juji and Jay, but missed out on the day’s supply. I could not believe how much my legs ached! Going through the photos I realised I didn’t actually eat as much as I thought I did, but I hope you’ll enjoy the photos, the majority of which aren’t actually food porny ones. Mountaingirlrae, hope you enjoy them especially. :) This is to be the first of eight or nine Royal Show posts.

Would you buy a giant lollipop for $18.00?

This man was selling bubble guns for $10. Jac was tempted to purchase one but by the time she convinced herself $10 wasn’t too expensive for a toy gun he’d run out of blue guns. She really didn’t want a yellow one, so we went home bubble gun-less.

These are “crocodile eggs” which “hatch” a couple of days after you place them in water.

Last year I took a photo of a giant beer can. This year there was a giant inflatable Jack Daniels and Cola Can on top of the pub. There was also a giant Coke can, which will be coming up in another post.

Our first glimpse of real food was the carvery stand.

The smell and sight of the rotating roast beef was fantastic. But I wasn’t in the mood for roast. I was hanging out for BBQ baby back pork ribs and fresh bursty buttered corn…

Oh my goodness I love these posts. I think the closest we get to this type of thing in Los Angeles is the Orange County Fair, but that isn’t half as fun as this looks.

Jack Daniels comes in a can? WITH Cola? That’s insane! oof.. bad memories of Jack. haha.

Thanks for posting this!

Steph,
We get all sorts of alcoholic drinks in a can here. :) I love our Royal Show. It costs $22 to get in for an adult (we got our tickets pre-the show for $20) so we like to stay all day to make it worthwhile. We mostly do free/cheap things and really enjoy ourselves.
