We picked these homegrown cherry tomatoes off our plant last Tuesday. Perfect for bento!
Jac planted these from old cherry tomatoes, which she just threw into the garden bed and left to self-seed. And she told me this evening there are still more cherry tomatoes growing, which will be ready for picking very soon.

Hi TFP! I’ve been your silent reader for ages now, this is the 1st time I’m commenting! :) I must say those are gorgeous looking tomatoes!
Oh my gods they are lovely. A world without tomatoes would be a duller sadder place indeed. I grew my own for the first time this year, the colour and flavour of them made me so happy !
Gorgeous! Your picture really brings out the colors of the tomatoes, great camera work on your part, and great planting on Jac’s part! :D
ah, summer. I’m so sad that here in the U.S. it’s winter.. summer is always my favorite season.
Aw! Nice pics and beautiful tomatoes! Congrats to Jac for her gardening skills and you, for your photography skills :D I am growing mint right now, and it’s perfect in any salad. Tomatoes have to wait for summer, it’s chilly here in Florida now. Sad.
Ooh, those are so pretty! I’ve never picked them green, are you planning on cooking them or eating them raw?
Those tomatoes look amazing. I’m a big fan of cherry and grape tomatoes – does Jac have any gardening tips to get them looking so good? I don’t have the greenest thumb but I’d love to try growing my own.
Hi Kynnne,
Thanks for your 1st comment! Hopefully I can inspire you to comment more! :)
Greenlady,
I know what you mean about feeling happy – I felt really thrilled picking these, then looking at them… then packing them into our lunches and eating them.
Thanks, Rachel.
I didn’t do much as far as the photo went – just took the photo using my usual settings. But yes, the credit should go to Jac for the green fingers, of which I have none whatsoever.
Steph,
Although we are now officially in summer (it begins in December over here), the weather’s gone cool and rainy again, which is quite annoying!
Kiran,
Jac has grown mint in the garden too, but I always forget that we have it. :)
Megan,
Not sure – we’ve now eaten all the red ones and have only the green left. I’ll discuss it with Jac on the weekend… maybe we could try mini fried green tomatoes. :)
Lauren,
I haven’t had a chance to ask Jac your question, but will do so on the weekend and post any answer I get. I don’t think she does anything in particular, but I will check.
