My aioli has a face

in Home cooking

This is what we assembled for dinner a couple of Wednesdays ago, too lazy to cook – oven-fried chicken nuggets and salad (mixed greens, cucumber, baby roma tomato, mushrooms and corn kernels), with tomato sauce and aioli for dipping. I think the aioli looks very “man in the moon”-ish, what do you think?

Chicken nuggets, salad, tomato sauce and aioli

I’ve been replying to comments this evening – I hope I haven’t missed any. I know I owe a number of you guys emails too (Laura – I know it’s been absolutely ages since your last email – I will reply, I promise!). It would be so nice to not have to work at all, and just spend my days eating, taking pictures of food, blogging and replying to comments and emails. Such a shame I need money to facilitate all those things! :)

It is disgustingly hot over here at the moment. Today was a 38C day. Tomorrow is not much better – forecast top of 37C, and then on new year’s day, they’ve predicted it will reach 39C. I don’t have any plans for new year’s eve/day. I prefer it that way – I’m not very comfortable at parties, to be honest – probably because I don’t drink alcohol and don’t enjoy hanging out with drunk people. :) What about you guys? Any plans for new year’s eve (or new year’s day)?

That looks like a man’s face indeed! I don’t feel very comfortable at parties too, so I prefer small gathering amongst good friends. I’ve invited my best friend over to my house for lunch on new year day. It’s a nice way to start the new year.

I don’t have any plans either. Our school is on holiday right now so the whole University of Florida campus and town is empty. I came back a week early to do some research and say farewell to one of my lab mates.

I don’t drink alcohol either and it is rather annoying being around drunk people when you are sober. As for the face, I definitely see it. I hope you didn’t eat it? That kind of item belongs on eBay.

I’m working til 5pm today and my boyfriend is working 7-11. I’ll be picking him up from work at 11 and then probably going back to his house and spending the new years with him :) A friend may come over, but if he doesn’t, no big deal :D

Oh you can easily see the face. Too funny.

We don’t have any plans either. This will be my first time being at home on New Year’s Day, ever (we’re usually out of town, but hub just started new job in October so we couldn’t), so I plan to cook something fun.

I tip my hat to you for not drinking alcohol. Good for you, sincerely. And Happy New Year!

Hi TFP , hope you are having a nice break !

This New years my partner, myself and some friends are going to Fontys Pool about 4 hours drive south of Perth, it’s usually 10 degrees cooler there so hopefully the kiddies won’t complain so much.

Thanks for a great years blogging !

100 degrees at Christmas, that’s just so weird to me… its 110 every day in August but in December that’s just crazy….

Since the weather is revolting (I’m from Perth too!) hubby and myself will just stay in NYE. We’re not big party-goers and we’ve got a small puppy that needs (and demands) lots of attention. I love chicken nuggets though – great idea for this horrible weather. I especially love those Inghams nuggets with spicy red sauce from Fountain (I think) – it’s basically tomato sauce with a little bit of a kick from capsicum and garlic.

I’m gonna be spending 12am at church :) Nothing too particular about new year’s celebration I guess…just don’t want to be caught in the crowd downtown *prrff*

and it’s scorching hot here in Penang! It says 31C on google..but i swear it feels like 40C! I’m melting like a candle!

happy new year! :)
i’m really bushed from my half day at work, and shoe shopping after, so i reckon i’ll spend new year’s eve comfortably at home dressed in comfy cotton shorts and a tank top.

blur ting,
Lunch with your best friend sounds like a lovely way to celebrate the new year. :)

lu,
Hahaha, I don’t know!

Zaw,
Oh yes – it is definitely annoying. I hate having 1)conversations with people who have no recollection of them later and 2) drunk people ask me the same stuff or trying to tell me the same things over and over again. I also have a fear of being around people who may throw up. Of course I ate the aioli face! Yeah, perhaps I ate my ticket to eBay fame and fortune. Heh.

Emma,
Sounds good. I don’t even know if I will be awake at midnight (though the heat will make it hard to sleep)! :) Right now as I type this it is 9:16pm and I am feeling very tired.

Melissa,
I’ve had a few bad experiences with alcohol; my doctor told me I’m one of those many Asian people who can’t tolerate alcohol and shouldn’t drink, period – but besides that reason, to be perfectly frank, I don’t like drinking because I don’t see the point of getting drunk. I know a lot of people like it and it’s part of enjoying a night out or social event (friends and Jac included), but for me, it’s just not something I want to do. :)

Minimike,
Unfortunately, not much of a break. I didn’t take extra time off this festive season, so I was at work Mon to Wed this week, will have new year’s day off, then back to work again on Fri. But I had a nice Christmas break (short as it was), and am looking fwd to tomorrow. Mate, 10 degrees cooler sounds heavenly right now. We are still sweltering in our hot house. My pleasure – I hope to continue with the blogging in 2009. :)

jetgirl,
Heheh. Yeah. It’s funny, I can’t imagine having cold weather in December – hot is all I know. :) My friend SRM is probably smiling as he reads my emails complaining about the heat – while he enjoys the colder temperatures this time of year in Canada.

Beauty,
Sounds lovely. I am sure you will have a wonderful time. Yes, we shall *talk* more next year! Happy new year to you too!

Holly,
Aww, a new puppy! What kind of a dog is it?
Funny thing is, my appetite is not at all diminished even in the hottest weather! In fact, I’m planning to have curry for work lunch on Friday! :) Oh yes – I love tomato sauce that’s been enhanced with chilli/garlic. Especially garlic.

Peky,
I am melting too. I have a fan blowing right next to me, but I am still very hot. It will be another difficult-to-fall-asleep night (which may mean I will actually be awake at midnight).

dea,
Hahaha, you have described pretty much what I am wearing now – comfy Bonds cotton shorts and a tank top.

It’s a dachshund – Henry. The receptionist at the vet’s office wanted to find a hot dog bun to stick him in so she could take a photo. :) He’s now 10 weeks old. We took him for a walk tonight and two cars pulled over to the side of the road to get a closer look at him. (And yes, I’m aware I’m rattling on like a new mum.) ;p

That aioli is scary looking! New Year was ushered with loads of fun coupled with great food in the company of family and friends! I agree with you on the party bit – i don’t drink, neither being surrounded with drunkards ;)

Holly,
I can imagine why people wanted to stop and look -he must be so little and cute! One of my workmates just got a new kitten, and she is adorable – makes me want to get another.

dynagrrl,
The cool thing is, it sort of happened on its own.

Kiran,
The aioli was probably more suited to a Halloween meal. :) Your new year sounds good. Yes, no drunkards for me.
