Old favourite

Every now and then, I cook myself my old favourite dish of fried SPAM with egg, Heinz baked beans and rice. And even if I’ve had the crappiest of crappy days, I always feel at least a little better as I enjoy this comforting savoury meal.

Why are the eggs that color? Is that what Spam does to eggs?

Oh, and also, baked beans on toast == awesome.

Cubed spam with peas, fried egg (cut up), rice and all wok fried with Indofoods’ Spicy Nasi Goreng mix (with more chilli) definitely makes a comfort meal for me. If i’m having an especially crappy day, i put enough chilli to make me sniff/cry/gasp. At the end of the meal, everything kinda falls into perspective.

The look on poor Dan’s face as he tries to cope, also helps this :D

Jenny,
I break the egg(s) into a bowl, add white pepper and soy sauce and beat it with a fork before adding it to the browned SPAM. So, no, it’s not the SPAM that makes the egg that colour – it’s soy sauce. :)

I like baked beans on toast too, but have to be in the mood for it. I love baked beans on plain steamed rice.

C,
That sounds good – though I would go easy on the chilli for myself (as you know, I’m a chilli wuss compared to you!).

Oh damn! That’s some decent slices of spam there! Looks soooooooo good! Spam isn’t spam unless its thickly sliced so you can enjoy all the meatiness! hehe

I love baked beans with minced meat and chopped onion on top of steamed rice. Comforting and delicious! Lately, my mum has taken to serving her pan-fried pork chops with a side of baked beans with diced onion stirred through. It’s an odd pairing, but yummy!
