Hi, we stopped at Sapporo yesterday (Sunday) afternoon to look at what times it was open. Unfortunately it only seems to open mon-sat 11:30am - 2:30pm, quite unusual that it's only open 3 hours per day. My husband is Japanese and he was quite miffed that they are not open any other times because he has to work during the day. I'd like to go there and try it some time though... :) I was surprised to find your review!! We didn't know if it was just a take-away but thanks to your review we can see it's a restaurant. As an aside, I grew up in the area of Carlisle and as a child that shop used to be a deli.

sashimi does require a developed taste, as I myself won't eat it when I was little. Now, I really
love it, espiecially raw salmon being my favourite. I'm not too keen on the mackerel.

Melissa,
I don't mind sushi but do not like sashimi. Most of the time I want a hot meal, which is why I don't choose sushi. A hot meal is so much more satisfying to me, somehow.

tunadip,
I suppose as they are dumplings made in a Japanese restaurant, they served them with wasabi. I didn't think about the sparseness of the presentation, to be honest. I was too busy diggng into my stir-fry at the time. :)

Stylopath,
Jac would say "cold meat and salad". That's her favourite meal for hot weather. Sashimi will probably be somewhere near the top of her list too.

Wonderful, mouth watering looking meal! Is there anything better than raw fish in hot weather?

Funny, I hadn't thought before about how you don't like sushi. You have such similar tastes to me in everything else I choose to eat out - noodle and rice dishes, mostly Asian food of one kind or another, fried things :P - but no sushi. Blasphemy! ;)

I don't know which I would jump on faster though, the fish or your stir fry. Yum.
