McChicken and sad, soggy fries

in Eating out

I was craving a McChicken recently and went to McDonald’s and got one. Sometimes I don’t try to fight the cravings – they just hang around or come back even more powerful than before. The McChicken was great, but the fries were sad and soggy. Sad, but that seems to be the way most of the time these days at McDonald’s. Problem is, while they’re making your burger to order (and making you wait even longer than before for something that isn’t really that much better than a not-cooked-to-order burger anyway), they’re still cooking the fries. And they sit there, like you, waiting for your burger.

What was your special request for the burger?

McChickens are my favourite:) And to be honest, the soggy fries are my favourite ones!

Bummer…cold fries are the worst. They just don’t taste the same if they aren’t nice and piping hot.

I find I have similar fast food cravings and when I give in to them I’m usually disappointed 8 out of 10 times. It stinks!

Mmm I’ve recently rediscovered how tasty McDonald’s is. I like their chicken nuggets with honey mustard sauce, but the McChicken isn’t a bad choice either!

When they do that to me with the fries, I tell them that I would like HOT fries, and they give me fresh ones.

I hate soggy cold fries. If I’m going to splurge on the calories, they’d better be GOOD!

That’s a shame about your chips. The McDonalds near me ALWAYS get them right. They struggle with the assembly of burgers (lettuce falling out, lids falling off), but chips they can do.

Not that I’ve eaten Maccas recently. I would’ve sold my left arm for a burger last night, but just as we were about to pull in, guilt got the better of me and I got a salad tray from Subway.

I love the soggy McDonald fries too! Our McChicken sandwiches do not look like that here in California. We used to have the Cajun McChicken sandwiches maybe 6 years ago and they were very tasty!

Do you get Mcspicy chicken over there? That’s the only burger I would eat in Singapore. The chicken chunk (thigh meat I think) is juicy and spicy and huge!

Sarah,
There was no special request; here in Australia they make all Maccas burgers to order now. Everyone has to wait a few minutes for their burgers, which can be a pain when it’s very busy – no place to wait without feeling like you’re in the way of other people queueing up to order.

jetgirl,
Heheheh. Yeh. You think I have a problem with them then? LOL.

The Home Cook,
Agreed. It is such a shame when you decide to splash out on junk and it turns out to be crap. :) (I know some people will say all junk is crap, but I don’t agree!)

Megan,
I love the McNuggets too… but I miss the days when they had dark meat nuggets as well.

JJ,
Yeah… I could’ve/should’ve gone back, but it was so busy I just wanted to get out of there. My attitude is – they shouldn’t give you the soggy fries in the first place.

Erin,
Heheh. Yes! And now that they’ve made the big deal about making the burgers to order, I get very irritated when I open up the box and see the burger looking like it’s just been chucked in there (which happens quite often). Poor Maccas – they are struggling to please the critics. If only we could go back to the days when junk food was just junk food and no one felt like they had to pretend it was anything else.

Nancy,
I’d love to try a Cajun McChicken!

blur ting,
Nothing here called that, but the seared chicken breast burger had a spicy option at one stage – not sure if it is still available. Unfortunately too many Aussies like breast meat, so we are unlikely to get thigh meat in our chicken burgers here. :(
