I wanted to make minchee, but when I opened the potato keeper, well, let’s just say the potatoes had been long forgotten, were beginning to change state and grow some spectacular horns. :)
So, a change of plan was needed, but only a slight change. I seasoned the pork mince with soy sauce and pepper. I fried chopped onion and garlic in the wok, then added the mince. When the mince began to change colour from raw pink, but before it was completely cooked, I added chopped green beans and a good generous drizzle of oyster sauce to flavour the mixture. By now it was smelling very good indeed. The very last thing I added was half a tin of Heinz baked beans. I probably would’ve just opened and used a whole tin, but I just happened to have the open half tin sitting in the fridge. I stirred it all together, and when the baked beans were heated through, the dish was ready to serve. I ate it with freshly cooked rice, and it was really tasty. There was enough left over for another meal the next day. I loved it. I’ll have to cook it again sometime.

You had me all the way .. until you added the baked beans. Not so sure about that … But, I have to say, I have done the same thing when throwing things into the skillet, but its usually a half of a tomato that’s been sitting for a few days.
I LOVE baked beans with minced pork. I think i’ve said this many times. But I’ve never thought of adding green beans to the mix. That’s a great idea…that i am so going to try.
Two Barking Dogs,
Hahaha, to each their own! When I was a kid, my late grandma sometimes made something similar to this dish, with pork mince, cubed potatoes and baked beans. I loved eating that dish with rice.
Cool, dea.
Let me know how it turns out!
