After we went to hospital to see my sister-in-law and my brother and meet my new niece Zoe, Jac and I decided to grab some dinner in Subiaco. After some walking up and down Rokeby Road in search of inspiration, we settled on Edo Japanese BBQ Restaurant (320 Barker Rd, Subiaco).

Thinking about toasted sandwiches

We recently bought a Breville Snack Creations toasted sandwich snack maker. It’s great – it makes four sandwiches using eight slices of bread in one go, enough for a meal for Jac and me. When I moved out of home at 18 to live in a tiny cat box of a flat with a high school friend, we practically lived on toasted sandwiches.

Chicken schnitzel burger

From 88 Royal Lunch bar (88a Royal St, East Perth). A chewy, toasted sesame seed bun. An ultra crispy chicken fillet with surprisingly moist chicken breast inside. Fresh tomato and lettuce. A slathering of mayonnaise.

Late dinner: honey-roasted turkey breast with salad

Sliced cold honey-roasted turkey breast (bought from Woolworths supermarket), hard-boiled egg, mixed salad greens, lebanese cucumber, roma tomatoes and marinated mushrooms, with freshly cracked black pepper on the egg and tomatoes.
