My last day at work was also my birthday, and I wanted something really good for my morning tea. Something good meaning something served hot – with pastry!

Lunch at Toraya Japanese Restaurant – rice pots unite!

On Tuesday of my final week at my old job, I facilitated a workshop at my old office in Subiaco. I simply could not miss my chance to have lunch afterwards at my old lunching haunt, Toraya Sushi (Shop 8 Subiaco Square, 29 Station Street, Subiaco).

I loved the sushi cone so much I had another for lunch the following week. Workmate J and I went into Perth city at lunch time to grab takeaway lunches from Jaws Temaki Myer again.

Afternoon tea with friends

I went to afternoon tea at my friend D’s home. D was one of my best friends from my now ex-workplace. She wanted to celebrate my new job (although she was sad we would no longer get to work together) and my PhD. Our great friend JL came too. I’d skipped lunch after my hearty breakfast, and was quite ready for some late afternoon eating.

On the Saturday Jac and I went into the city to find me a wedding outfit (we’d found Jac’s dress in a boutique in Mount Lawley earlier that week), we had lunch in the Carillon Food Hall.

Sushi cone lunch

Inari sushi and a chicken karaage sushi cone

Since I had an errand in town, I grabbed a takeaway lunch on my way back to work: inari sushi and a sushi cone. I’ve walked past this sushi cone place for years – Jaws Temaki Myer – and never tried it until this day.
