Dinner
Jac made patties using tinned salmon and mashed potato. She served them with steamed broccoli and carrot. I ate my salmon patties with tomato sauce.
Bento
Jac had made some mini salmon patties specially for the next day’s bento. I packed us mini patties with little containers of Newman’s Own Southwest Dressing as dip, potato salad, vegetables and half a hard-boiled egg each.
This was the last of the potato salad (we’d eaten the rest in the previous day’s bento).
Yes, I admit it -I’ve been wanting to do a fart joke on a bento note for some time. The weather forecast for a “windy morning” proved inspirational! And yes, Jac got this joke! :-P So now you all know that to TFP, “pooot” is the cartoon sound of a fart. LOL.
I bought these bento boxes from eBay sometime ago. I love their glossy rich brown lacquer, and they hold a decent amount of food too.

Hehe how funny… and he is blushing :P
Aw, I love the note! In fact, I really like the way your recent notes for Jac have been colourful, they look so cute! I think you have great handwriting too.
Jac’s salmon and potato patties look delicious. Is there a recipe she follows to make them? I tried to make burgers out out of king prawns that I had diced up and it was a bit of a disaster – they fell apart completely and were all mushy, not very nice! Since then, I’ve not dared to make patties using fish since, but I’d love to know what goes in to these ones.
So funny! I got the joke too! :P
Pooot! You are too funny. I finally caught up. Sorry to not comment on each post, but trust that I am loving your food porn (and your bentos and Jac’s cooking) as much as ever. Hope you’re having a great week TFP! :D
Yum, I’ve bought salmon and fish patties from the market, but I’ve never thought of making them! I should try that some time–fish and mashed potato sounds easy and delicious.
Ooooo, I really like those bento boxes from ebay. Shiny black XD. Musical notes ..on the note….are…backwards….gack…..
yuk! bad kitty!
Linda,
Well of course he is blushing! :)
Rosie,
I’ve asked her for some notes re fish patties but she’s been very busy and hasn’t had a chance to get them to me. She’s used different recipes over the years, but sometimes makes her own hybrid “recipe” from all her experience making tuna and salmon patties.
tunadip,
Hahaha. Good!
Melissa,
No need to apologise! I know how hard it is to actively comment on all posts – I am terrible at commenting, period! It was a good week, but a very busy one. Weekends are just not enough time to recover.
Megan,
There are many recipes for fish patties online, if you are keen to give it a go.
Kagenosuke,
Everyone who sees these bento boxes admires them – they are so shiny and beautiful.
Bryan,
Hahaha – poor kitty. It’s just part of being alive! :-P
