One giant iced cinnamon bun

in Takeaway

Regular readers will know how much I love iced cinnamon buns. This was a particularly large one I enjoyed last month. It was so large it took me four goes to get through it all. I started at the beginning of my day, at around 8am, with my first cup of tea; I had some more bun at lunch time as dessert; I had a little more at around 3pm with another cuppa; I had the last of it at home after dinner with my last cup of tea for the day. :)

Here’s a photo of the bun next to my ball point pen, for size comparison. Pretty big, huh? :-D

I used to have this for breakfast in Msia with a cup of latte but of course not this big. My favourite was Blueberry cinnamon bun from Cinnabon. I wish we have Cinnabon here. Somehow we can get a bigger variety of buns and bread in Msia than here in Perth. Have you heard abt the shop ‘breadstory’ (http://www.breadstory.com/) and one other competitor. When I was there, there was another type of bun that was famous and people have to queue up just to buy them Mexican bun. I’m a bread person, so I missed my buns and bread a lot. I missed my Backofen and another german type of bread shops in Bangsar and so on Too many to tell.

Hey TFP! Im a huge fan of your blog because of the yummy food photos you posted up! =) Also one of the reasons being sometimes you tell us the names of the restaurants or address and i would just go and try out! Im also a huge fan of pastries but sometimes you don’t seem to tell us where you get them. =( Thanks for sharing the good food TFP! Your blog is an everyday-must-read to me. Keep it up!Hehe..

I like cinnamon buns too but I often find them disappointing – there are lots of slightly stale ones out there… *frowns*

It certainly is generously sized, but I suspect that once I started ‘unwrapping’ it (my favourite method of eating these – peeling the coil off from the outside in!) it would soon all strangely disappear, much like the big bowl of gelato that was sitting in front of me a minute ago has now disappeared.

I read this post and was immediately excited, because I’ve got the day off tomorrow and I’m headed to a friend’s place to learn to bake cinnamon rolls. I hope mine turn out yums!

Yummo! I love a good cinnamon bun. (Cinnamon has to be one of my favourite flavours in the world!!!) When I was a kid, I used to lick all the icing off then eat the bun. :)

flower,
I’d love it if we had more bun shops here, with sweet and savoury buns. I especially love buns with savoury fillings, but I’d love to be able to buy durian custard-filled buns from just anywhere. I’d be in heaven.

Charles,
When I neglect to include names of places, it’s fully intentional. Usually it’s so I don’t give away too much information about where I work, for example. :) Glad to hear you enjoy the blog though!

CW,
Agreed. And sometimes it’s hard to tell whether they’re stale or not – until you bite into them, which is so disappointing.

LOL Conor,
I love to unravel them as I eat them too.
That’s the best way to enjoy them.

Amycat,
I have only had one once, but it was very nice. :-P

Jetgirl,
I don’t know! :-P See, more things I am learning from you!

dea,
How fun, baking with a friend! How did the buns turn out? :-D

Sarah,
It was huge and great and I wish I had one right here, right now!

Sarah,
LOL – I like big buns and I cannot lie EITHER! Judging by these comments, you other fellas can’t deny! Hahhahaha.

Fiona,
I did offer bun to workmates, but they declined. So it was all up to me.

Sally,
The icing is my favourite part, so I often save some of the icing to the end.

Cindy,
I agree. I like lots and lots of icing, the thicker the better.

Bryan,
Thanks, glad you noticed. ;-)
