The ugliest Chicken McNuggets ever. They looked old and crusty and kind of weather-beaten. Surprisingly, they tasted great – and I ate them all, though not in one sitting (this was a 10-pack).

Chicken Treat Westcoast Fried Chicken with chips – fried chicken from Chicken Treat sounded like a great idea! The chicken was succulent and juicy, served pipingly, finger burningly hot. Unfortunately, it was bland – it just wasn’t “tasty”. You expect crispy fried chicken skin to have a great tasty flavour – I was so disappointed.

Chicken penne salad from Sumo Salad – this is one of my favourite Sumo Salads – it’s not from the make to order menu, it’s one of their express salads.

Jac tried a chilli prawn salad. She was a little disappointed that the prawns were cold (she’d expected them to be hot for some reason), and she found the chilli dressing a little too tomatoey in flavour for her liking. Nothing really wrong with this salad, just not to her taste.

A Filet O Fish with an on-the-verge-of-overdone filet. My favourite parts of the Filet O Fish are the soft chewy steamed bun (I’ve always loved that it has no sesame seeds on it) and the tartare sauce – I know people who hate McDonald’s tartare sauce, but I love how it tastes, and the little bits of gherkin that are in the sauce. Good old chunky bits, I love chunky tartare sauce.

Oh my… I especially love your posts of junk food for some reason (probably because I am always craving fast food). The Chicken McNuggets actually look pretty tasty to me… and that Filet O Fish looks amazing! I also love their tartar sauce (I’ve never met a fried seafood + tartar sauce combo that I didn’t like, come to think of it!).

That penne salad looks really nice. Any idea what’s in it and what kind of dressing?

I’ve always wished they would make a double-decker filet o’fish burger! It’s my favourite burger on the Maccas menu but I rarely buy it because it’s a little too small. (Love the soft bun and tartare sauce too. :))

You know what, there is a double-decker version of the fillet o fish! I’m in Singapore at the moment and I saw an ad for that when I passed a McDonald’s outlet!! They even have a wasabi version of the double-fillet monstrosity!

The chicken penne salad looks very good. Seems it’d be delicious hot or cold. :-)

Lol! I’m glad they turned out delicious. I’ve very occasionally seen fried food with that “carbuncle”-type appearance and usually whatever it is IS tasty.

The best thing about a Filet-o-Fish imo is the cheese; it rounds out the fish and tartare sauce flavors — a nice “marriage” of taste.

I wonder why they only put a half piece of cheese on the filet-o-fish… oh well they are so good!

Megan,
Glad you enjoy the junk food posts! When Jac saw the nuggets she said I should take them back. I said – “Let me try one first!” I took a bite, declared them ugly but tasty, and the rest is history.

Steph,
Hahaha! You’ve put that song back in my head now!

jetgirl,
I could easily eat them all AND a burger AND fries… but of course that would be so bad, so I eat them in instalments. :)

PJ,
It’s got roast chicken, penne, sundried tomatoes, spring onions and some kind of lemon/olive oil dressing (I think!).

hannyb and dea,
I would totally eat a double decker Filet O Fish! I often think a Filet O Fish is too small when I’m feeling really hungry (hence I supplement with Nuggets), but a double decker one would do just nicely! Don’t know about a wasabi one though!

Cindy,
Yes – I think they do say you can warm it up if you prefer. I like it cold. Yep – old McCarbuncle tastes surprisingly good, doesn’t it? :-P I do think the Filet O Fish is one of the yummiest items of the McDonald’s menu – have loved them ever since I was a kid.

Bryan,
The cheese is always so small! They could easily use two slices and it would still seem small!
