in Takeaway

A dinner of KFC Original Recipe (a drumstick and a thigh, of course! ^_^), chips, coleslaw and potato and gravy, eaten at the coffee table while watching cartoons on TV.

Chips AND mashed potatoes: I can SO relate to you! ;-) I’d want to dunk a chip into that lovely gravy and take a scoop of mashed up with it! Potato on potato oozing with gravy. Dang! Lol…

I haven’t had a good KFC meal in years and now I’m totally craving! We used to get those big bucket meals all the time as a kid and I would literally drench everything in the gravy. YUM!

Blechh, sorry. I have never eaten fried chicken, sorry to say. i had a shake ‘n bake Mom. I had a KFC something (a “bowl”?) one time and it was nasty and waaay too salty. But I remember liking the too-sweet, ground-up coleslaw which to me is everything coleslaw should not be but is strangely tasty anyhaow. I also secretly like “island grill” Hawaiian style macaroni salad when it is NOTHING but boiled macaroni, mayo, and old nasty pepper straight from the can. So maybe I should give fried chicken a go, eh? Or wait for more bursty-prawn porn! I want Hainanese chicken rice!!! It does not exist in Oregon.

Thanks to this photo we had to order KFC last night hehe it was soo good. I am more into the hot’n spicy as I love the extra crispy skin, but I did have a piece of original and it was very tasty.

Megan,
Yep – they’re the ones I go for every time. If I can’t get the drumstick, I can be happy with a thigh. But if no thigh, TFP not happy! :-P

Michelle,
Mmm, yeah, I love chicken salt!

clekitty,
Lots of great childhood things I still like to do! Like reading my favourite books from childhood, playing with Lego…

Lisa,
It was a most relaxing (and delicious) evening!

Noor,
Oops! Sorry! Hope you got to eat something good!

Cindy,
Funny thing is, I never used to like the potato and gravy as a kid. Now I love it, and we like to get the Dinner for Two (or similar) value pack, with chicken, coleslaw, chips and potato and gravy. We miss it if we don’t have something to dip our ships into.

Cookie,
I love KFC and if I wanted to be the size of Jabba the Hutt I would eat it more often! :-P

deborah,
I love fried chicken! I prefer Jac’s homemade coleslaw to the KFC coleslaw, but I still enjoy it as part of a KFC meal. We haven’t eaten any more prawns since the last prawn post – sorry! :) I’d be sad if I lived somewhere with no Hainanese chicken rice! But I might then have to get off my butt and actually make some myself.

Ranee,
Hahahahaah, awesome!

Kagenosuke,
Mmmmmm. So could I!!! LOL.

mmm, nothing like the Mashed potatoes and gravy from KFC, Drool.
I rarely go anymore because the service at the one by my house pretty much sucks.

Greg,
That’s a shame. I used to live near a crappy McDonalds. They always managed to stuff up my order, serve me old dried Filet O Fish burgers etc.

Hey, its OK. There is always the KFC across town, its just a pain in the butt to drive all the way there, and deal with the mall traffic.

But on the bright side, I do live by an In-n-Out burger. :-)

Funny, my husband had today off for doctor visit ( broken back, bad wreck 16yrs ago. Painful ever after.) On the way home we got Popeye’s chicken. Dirty rice, red beans and rice, butterflied shrimp and biscuits! watching Tivoed Lost episodes. Wrecked back, but alive, terrific junk food, favorite show, little dog Duke…and each other. Life is good!! Do you have Popeye’s in Australia?

kathy,
Sorry, somehow I missed this comment! No, we don’t have Popeye’s here, but readers have told me about it and I’d love to try it someday. We love getting takeaway and settling down with a good DVD, joined by the cats! :)

One thing you must all do is check the use by date on the coleslaw. If it is anything less like a day or two away from use by it will most certainly taste slightly fermented / off. Reason is because they overload it with cabbage and hardly any carrot. It is actually meant to be not more than 70% cabbage. Also check the potato gravy they store fill them and often underfill them. Love that potato gravy!

I love KFC chips, they’re the best. Next to Red Rooster, of course. :)

I love KFC chips too. I like dipping them in the gravy. I haven’t eaten Red Rooster for YEARS! I guess with so many great chicken places to choose from, I never think of Red Rooster. Nothing wrong with Red Rooster, but we always have KFC or Nando’s or even Chicken Treat before thinking of Red Rooster.
