Midweek dinner date – sashimi, noodle soup and pancake

November 4, 2009

in Eating out

Another dinner at the International Eating House in East Victoria Park. We started with a plate of crispy spring rolls with sweet and sour sauce.

Jac ordered a salmon sashimi set from the Japanese stall. The set included salmon, salad, rice, miso soup and a bowl of dipping sauce. It’s extremely good value at AU$6.50!

I was in the mood for noodle soup, and ordered hokkien noodle soup with chicken from one of the Chinese stalls (the one closest to the Japanese). It was even better than I hoped – a big bowl filled to the brim with a dark brown broth, egg noodles, bok choy, chicken pieces and fresh bean sprouts.

This was fantastic. The soup was quite salty, but it was delicious! The chicken pieces were thigh meat, bouncy and juicy. I was in heaven! It really was a big bowl of noodle soup – I struggled to finish, and in the end reluctantly left some broth and noodles behind.

Jac ordered a pancake with ice cream, banana and maple syrup for us to share. It was a perfect end to a delicious meal.

The spring rolls look fabulous, and that awesome dessert pancake…{drool}!

Lovely presentation of both meals by their makers, but the salmon would have to be poached.

Wow, 6.50 for so much sashimi? We usually get 2 pieces for that price! Your noodle soup looks so yummy and comforting.

The noodle soup looks really good. The broth kind of resembles Singaporean prawn noodle broth, which I love. Looks like something my mum would cook. Yum!

Fiona,
The meals from this Japanese place are extremely good value and always delicious!

Cindy,
Well… it’s sashimi so would never be poached. :) Jac loves it.

Cookie,
Yeah, this place sells great value meals. I’m amazed at the prices and how much you get in a serve.

dea,
It was fantastic, exactly what I’d been craving. I wondered why the guy who brought it to the table was walking so slowly… and then I saw how full they’d filled the bowl! :-P

justonemorebite,
I did reply the last time you asked this question! :)
The food hall is at 1020 Albany Highway, East Victoria Park. See International Eating House at Google Maps

I’m so jealous of this food hall of yours! My boyfriend and I looked this place up on Google maps, and decided that if we ever visited Perth, we would have to go there.
