Used to be in the east perth area a lot.. Sushi @ Royal never did burgers when I was their =( – Definitely something I agree that was missing from the area.. one day I guess. The Katsudon their was pretty awesome though.

I think it’s a blessing in disguise that there is no McDonalds in East Perth. That chicken katsu burger looks really good, better than a McChicken I reckon :)

That burger looks a HECK of a lot better than a McChicken sandwich and it looks SUPER tasty. cucumbers in chicken sandwiches? I think Sushi @ Royal has really got an idea there!!

O.k., help out the American. What’s chicken salt?

My assumption is that it’s something along the lines of what we call seasoned salt (it’s salt, paprika, white pepper, garlic, probably MSG…all mixed together. It has a distinctive red-orange color and makes everything taste better).

Well at least there’s a greater variety of veggies in that yummy looking katsu burger than there is in a McChicken burger! :)

That sandwich does look good. :-) I’m surprised there’s no Mc-anything in East Perth? Here in the States it’s **everywhere** — lol. Yeah, I think the price of a meal shouldn’t include self-assembly either. We all have those “I want junk food and no apologies” days too. :-)

For years I’d been curious about Perth. Your blog fills in some basic questions. It’s a place I’d like to visit someday (likely never will); but the 14-hour time difference would probably be a nightmare to deal with.

I have a feeling TFP that East Perth is one of the suburbs in Perth that has laws (or some kind of official policy anyway) in place to prevent the opening of chain fast food restaurants like McDs and Red Rooster. I’m pretty sure that Nedlands/Dalkeith has the same policy.

On the upside, I’m sure that a katsu chicken burger is probably no better for you nutritionally than a McDonalds burger, so you’re in luck when you need that greasy hit! :P

If you guys ever find yourselves freo way, flipside in north freo does seriously good burgers and chips. You can also sit in the funky bar next bar (over a lemon, lime and bitters!)and they’ll bring it through for you.
