Teriyaki fish

November 19, 2009

in Takeaway

Teriyaki fish from Jaws Mint, East Perth (opposite the Perth Mint). It comes in one size with the fish, rice and pickled ginger. I always give my ginger to whoever I happen to be eating lunch with – I love ginger and like pickles normally, but for some reason I’ve never liked the Japanese pickled ginger that much. Luckily, my lunch buddies all seem to love it, so it’s never wasted.

Hmmmm. The fish and rice look good. The other? I think I’d pass; pink food does nothing for me (except for a line of pink in a steak).

I’m reading this post over lunch and although I’m tucking into to a fish burger and onion rings from Burger King, I’m now craving a fishy Japanese meal.

YUM! And I must say, you have made my life a little bit more pleasant, by making me allow myself treats I never dreamed of before… :) So thanks!

MMMM! I don’t know how you do it, but you can make anything look just delicious! Pickled Ginger takes an acquired taste, or you have to grow up eating it. Most of the people I know who like it are over 50…so maybe it just takes losing your taste buds?

I’ve never liked the pickled ginger either. It’s supposed to cleanse your palate between bites when you eat sushi but I just can’t do it!

I don’t like pickled ginger either (or wasabi, for that matter!), which is strange for me too because I usually like pickled/gingery/strongly flavored things. I think it’s a combination of the woody raw-ginger texture, with the sweet/almost too sour flavor of the ginger. I always give it to my friends to eat too.
