Dinner – fried curried herring fillets, salad and chips

More herring fillets! This time, Jac coated them with seasoned flour again, but not seasoned with just salt and pepper – this time she used curry powder too! She served the fish with oven-fried chips, blanched broccoli, fresh grape tomatoes and cucumber on a bed of cos lettuce. I had tomato sauce to go with my chips. :D

The fish was yummy! It would be great in a sandwich, I reckon, with shredded lettuce and mayo or tartare sauce. This time however, there were no leftovers!

I love oven-baked (not fried, in my terminology) chips. Sometimes I sprinkle mixed dried herbs over the potato fingers along with a good drizzle of olive oil and a dash of salt. Always comes out yummy and a perfect accompaniment to baked fish or chicken. :)

Interesting choice of fish, herring. I’ve had pickled and smoked herring, but I don’t think I’ve ever had it fresh like this. It looks really tasty though, especially with the addition of curry powder.

Hannah,
Yes. In Australia we usually refer to ketchup as tomato sauce.
