Sunday breakfast on the patio

Sunday breakfast on our patio! We never had a patio at the old house. Well, we planned to build one but never got around to it (when we sold the house, it was still patio-less). As you can see, someone had a full breakfast fry-up, and someone else had a toasted sandwich. I’m sure it’s easy to guess who had what! :D In the Mr Busy mug is my tea. We bought the mug at swapmeet on the previous weekend. We also got a Little Miss Trouble mug which Jac has claimed as her own. In the plastic IKEA tumbler I have 100% apple juice with ice cubes. On Jac’s side of the table is the Sunday Times TV Guide – we read the Sunday papers over breakfast. We are still to buy a proper outdoor setting. We’re sitting on benches we brought with us from the old house and the table is a trestle table we bought from Officeworks. :-P

Sunday breakfast on the patio

Jac sandwich: bacon, fried egg with gooey egg yolk, lashings of barbecue sauce.

My fry-up: bacon, two fried eggs, baked beans.

My breakfast fry-up

My two slices of toast, one spread with strawberry jam, the other with kaya.

I love bacon, la la la!

My fried eggs, topped with freshly cracked black pepper – just perfect.

Pixel sat on the bench next to Jac, sniffing intently, eyeing the bacon scraps on Jac’s plate (no such things on my plate! :-P)

Pixel can smell bacon!

She glared at me as if to say “Why won’t you meanies give me bacon?”

Or perhaps this was her attempt at hypnosis.

Why won't you meanies give me bacon?!

Don't miss an update!

Haha I adore the first picture of Pixel. Those eyes are just absolutely begging for that piece of bacon to rest comfortably in her belly!

And as always, those plump, peppery eggs couldn’t possibly look more tempting!

Bacon + Sunday breakfast + cat post = best post ever!
Loved this post! I had bacon, eggs, and toast for breakfast this Sunday also (although it was the deliciously fatty kind of bacon we have in the states).

Pixel reminds me of my cat – he sits and watches you with intense concentration while you eat and, if the situation is getting dire, he’ll put his wee paw on your leg to remind you of your true purpose in life … feeding him!

I must say Jac’s sandwich looks really good! I’m quite fond of anything involving barbeque sauce. And Pixel, oh my goodness. LOVE that sinister little glare of hers. SO CUTE.

Looks yummy. :-) I will say that I was surprised to discover (online) a few years ago that a “traditional” English breakfast can include baked beans. I was surprised to learn way back that Mexican breakfasts often include pinto beans (whole or mashed [aka "refried"]. I’ve learned to like pinto beans with a traditional Mexican-style breakfast, which I love as much as American style. Baked beans for breakfast? I’d try it, but it seems a bit strange…

Pixel is definitely miffed. :-p

cindy, baked beans for breakfast are amazing! to be honest, i’d find pinto beans a stranger choice, but i guess it’s just what you’re used to. although, in my humble opinion, you can’t go wrong with mushrooms and scrambled eggs on toast in the morning.

i miss bacon. and beans. italy doesn’t seem to be too enthralled with them. and, weirdly, i’m craving cheddar cheese – even though i rarely eat it at home in england.

Thanks Jessi. :-) I would love to try a traditional English fry-up some time (though I might pass on the black pudding regardless…lol); including the mushrooms!

Pinto beans in a Mexican breakfast nicely offset any hot peppers/sauce. Here they’re usually paired with hash brown potatoes, or sometimes “Spanish” rice as well (though rice is generally only served with lunch/dinner). I love a restaurant which serves both refried beans and hash brown potatoes on a breakfast platter.

Love to see how your cat ‘pose’ infront of the scrap.

cindy, random aside: black pudding makes your english breakfast a scottish one. ;) [/random trivia]

oooh, hash browns – it’s been too long!

Fantastic pictures, all look so delicious.
A big breakfast is a must (must make more time to eat them).
