Dinner – takeaway noodles in a box

December 13, 2009

in Takeaway

On one of the nights Jac was away I went to Noodlebox (118 Royal St, East Perth) after work and got a takeaway regular chicken pad thai.

Pad Thai from Noodlebox

I ordered my pad thai without peanuts but with fish cake. I love fish cake so much, especially in a noodle stir-fry. Noodlebox’s regular size is HUGE. Sometimes I can get through a whole regular in one sitting, but on this occasion I ate about two-thirds for dinner and finished off the rest for breakfast the next morning. I love noodles for breakfast. I could have noodles for breakfast every day like people have cereal, toast or oatmeal/porridge. As it is, I probably have noodles for breakfast once a week. :)

As the cats crunch on their biscuits, I sit at my computer sucking up noodles, checking email, chatting to my friend overseas, publishing a blog post. It’s a good way to start the morning.

Noodlebox I don’t trust. I usually don’t trust this chain, I tried it the other day, we have it here in Montreal, it tastes pretty bland. Hopefully it tastes better in your city!

I like noodles for breakfast too. Living in Singapore makes it very easy to get my noodle fix all the time! Fortunately, I’m not the regularly punctual sort and have toast or cereal for brekkie most weekday mornings. Saturdays and Sundays however, you’ll find me at the neighbourhood hawker centre chowing down on wantan mee, fishball noodles, vegetarian bee hoon or fried bee hoon with a fried egg and fishcake! :)

Mmm.. I have a serious pad thai craving now (which had actually been triggered by your last pad thai post!). I’ve eaten leftover pad thai for breakfast: I was running late to the airport and grabbed it from the fridge on my way out and ate it in the terminal. I might have looked weird, but it was so delicious I didn’t care!

tara,
While I know I can get better, more authentic noodles at asian restaurants/food hall, I find our Noodlebox is tasty enough to help soothe a noodle craving. :) I definitely don’t find it bland. I don’t know if the Australian franchise and the Canadian are related though? I think ours is simple “Noodlebox” while yours is “The Noodle Box”.

dea,
Awwwww, mmmm that sounds so good. We haven’t been to Spencer’s for a while. I might have to drop a few hints. :)

Megan,
Good on you! When we were coming back from our Hamilton Island holiday I had a terrible craving for noodles – hadn’t eaten any asian noodle or rice dishes all holiday! Luckily there was a noodle place at Brisbane airport. It wasn’t the most authentic of noodles, but again, did the trick.
