I was very bad, my first 2010 meal (and hangover cure) was a Hungry Jacks Angus burger. Delicious single fillet of beauty :-)

And it sure cured the hangover!

My partner made us pancakes (thin crepe-style pancakes) with a bit of lemon juice and sugar. And he made me a pot of tea to go with them. :)

Well, we ate our New Year’s Eve dinner after midnight so my first meal was foie gras with gingerbread, smoked salmon and spaghetti with fresh scallops!

I’m yet to have it, but it will be: Homemade sausage gravy (a white/cream gravy) over biscuits, with two scrambled eggs on the side.

Sausage gravy over biscuits is my ultimate comfort food. Give me a fork, some fresh black pepper…and leave me alone. ;-)

I have yet to eat today. We ate way to much last night and are having a party at my parents in a few hours, so my first meal will likely be a piece of fruit.

Happy New Year! I went out to breakfast in downtown Chicago, someplace right by our hotel, and I don’t care for eggs so I ordered two sides: applewood-smoked bacon and the breakfast potatoes. I couldn’t believe the tiny plate they brought out to me! Very unsatisfying. Then the shop I wanted to go to after breakfast was closed and it was very cold so we decided to go home. I passed my favorite cafe on the way home and they had balloons up, urging people in. I wish we would have waited! Ramen was the 2nd meal of the day…hopefully 2010 will pick up :)

A bowl of Honey Bunches of Oats, a toasted croissant sprinkled with garlic salt, and Nesquik. Lol.

Not much, I was STARVING at the parade today that happens in New Year’s in Philly. We stood around for 4 hours in the cold, waiting for a float we wanted to see, and it turned out that float didn’t pass the street we watched the parade on. Then, we had some McDonalds. Haha, greasy, salty, fries and some chicken. Yum!

SPAM, eggs and rice. Haha. Of course. ;)

I just stopped by and I couldn’t stop scrolling through pages and pages. It reminded me why I adored your page in the first place. And even better, you seem to be taking a lot more cat pictures. I love. :)

Happy New Year to you, TFP, and to Jac and Pixel and Billy Lee. ♥

As soon as I left the club, I hit up a street meat seller here in Toronto, Canada – a hot dog with all the trimmings! The perfect after-clubbing snack! :)

My first meal of the year was a dish called ‘Pongal” which is basically rice with traditional Indian spices. Some people might be shocked at the thought of rice for breakfast but I like it! :D

Well technically speaking my first meal of 2010 was a salami sandwich with Heinz curry mango sauce. But I’d rather consider that a small snack before going to bed. My first REAL meal of 2010 was the lazy man’s choice (and by god I AM lazy): Home ordered Pizza Margharita with Sauce Hollondaise instead of Tomato Sauce. The Pizza was delicious but the waiting sure was torture :D

After all the posh food over the holidays we felt like something hearty and homemade – so we had Leberkaese (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leberk%C3%A4se) and fried potatoes, a little spinach to add something green and a fried egg on top.

And I just realise this dish is totally German/Austrian… ;) Do you have anything like Leberkaese? If you’re a fan of SPAM you’d probably like it…

Happy new year, everyone! Thanks for your responses! I must say most of your first meals of 2010 sounded pretty good! I was home alone for new year’s weekend and too lazy to do cook much else at the time (regular readers will be familiar with this story!) – so I dug around in the pantry and emerged with a tin of SPAM. The End. Heheheh.

I haven’t eaten my first junk food of the year yet (McDonald’s, HJs, Dominos etc) – I wonder what it will be…

Poor Mary though – I would’ve felt so cranky wasting perfectly good tummy space on an inferior meal only to walk past my favourite place – with balloons, no less! :(

Mathai,
I love rice dishes for breakfast (I love dinner dishes at breakfast-time), whether they’ve been cooked especially for breakfast, or leftovers. I especially love curry and rice for breakfast. Mmm, wish I could have some right now. I’, pretty sure TFP readers are quite used to the concept of rice for breakfast now! :DDD

Bine,
I’m pretty sure I’ve seen leberkaese at a cold meat counter before over here – I’ll look out for it next time we’re at the shops. The dish you made with it sounds just like something I would like!
