A quick dinner I whipped up for myself one evening I was home alone. Cubes of SPAM, potato and fresh tomato with crisp green beans, stir-fried with garlic and a dash of oyster sauce. If I’d found mushrooms in the fridge, I would’ve included them too. I can eat this dish with a spoon, but it’s more satisfying to use a fork.

ahh you and you SPAM :)
Yay for Spam! And fork/spoon-only meals! :D
I’d eat that!
You started me eating Spam. It’s nice to have it in the pantry for a quick Spam and eggs craving! Your meal looks very tasty. Did you have left-over potatoes or did you cook them?
This looks so good! :D
Looks good (except peas would be my preference over green beans) . :-) Oyster sauce, hmmmm. You’ve mentioned it before. I might try to find some, give it a try.
hehe I am NOT a fan of spam!!!! Actually Mr BBB and I were only talking about it the other day!
Yay, a SPAM post! This looks simple yet tasty.
Sort of unrelated, but have you had SPAM musubi? It’s been on my list of things to try forever.
Fiona,
Yes… the love of a lifetime. LOL
Wei-Wei,
Yes! Yay for both of those, two of my favourite things!
AZ,
Heheheh, good!
kathy,
Hahaha, really? Cool! The potatoes were leftover from a recent dinner, so they were already cooked and ready to go. I just sliced them up into cubes. Sometimes if I want potato but there are none already cooked, I’ll cook one using our potato microwaver – it’s ready in a few minutes – easy peasy!
Karen, it was! :D
Cindy,
I love peas, but I prefer the texture of green beans any day. Yes, oyster sauce is definitely worth a try. And it can be used for all kinds of dishes.
Lisa,
Heheheh, I only know one or two people who actually like or admit to eating SPAM. Most people I know think of my SPAM love as some kind of endearing little quirk. :)
Megan,
SPAM musubi is also on my list of things to try. I’ve never seen it for sale anywhere here in Perth, so I think I will have to make my own if I want to eat it. :P
My grandma used to make spam soup, it’s quick and light, great for winter, and reminds me of home:
- clove of crushed garlic
- cubed spam (i use turkey)
- some small wedges of cabbage
- 1-2 tomatoes, quartered
- dash of fish sauce
Toss everything into a saucepan and with some water and boil; season with cracked pepper to taste (I prefer white pepper).
