I took this photo at Claisebrook Cove, East Perth using the Lumix G2 at around 7:20am. In a stroke of luck, the bird perched at the dock turned its head at just the right moment to give me a nice shot of its silhouette against the shiny lake. I was waiting to have breakfast (that post coming up soon) with my friend Charlene (she who now gleefully calls me “photo geek” – she is a photo geek herself, so I take it as a compliment. :))
Earlier on as I walked towards Claisebrook Cove I’d taken a photo of these tree branches and leaves against the early morning sky.
…and at 8:30pm that night, after dinner. It’s not EXACTLY the same view – I hadn’t intended to come back to take the night shot, but that very same evening Jac took me out to dinner in East Perth after work. Since I was back there, it seemed a good idea for some photo geekery. :D
My posts about breakfast with Charlene and dinner with Jac :
- Breakfast – Toast, East Perth 2
- Dinner – Havana Restaurant and Bar, East Perth
I hope I’ve shown you, through this and the previous half dozen or so posts, why I love the new camera so much – and how great it is for taking all kinds of different shots. Don’t forget you can win a Panasonic Lumix G2 camera (Australian readers only).
But next: back to food posts!

Your Phood Photography is some of the best I’ve seen, and a nice part of my day when I see you have a new post! It’s nice to see you’re incorporating scenery shots too. Australia seems like a nice place to live, scenery and food wise haha.
Thanks, Billy.
The focus of this blog is food, but I do feature other photos/topics from time to time. I thought readers might like to see what my new camera is capable of, so I have recently shared photos of more than food. The other time you will be more likely to see scenery is when I write about our holidays – I’m always keen to take photos whenever I go anywhere new for a holiday.
Wowwwwwww! The photography in those last two shots is just amazing! Now I REALLY want this camera.
Thanks Wei-Wei. Yep, it’s a pretty great camera!
My gosh! Those are some amazing shots there!. I like the nighttime one the most =)
Your new camera is amazing! I think scenery shots should be a regular addition to your blog! Photography and food are two of the best things ever!
Thanks, Kagenosuke. Glad you like them. There will be scenery shots from time to time. When I think they’re worth posting, and when I go on holiday (that’s when I tend to take the most scenery shots) :)
I love those photos. And I’m so jealous of your camera! The camera I have (for work purposes) is driving me up the wall… I really need to convince them of my need for an SLR.
Thanks, Lauren. I loved my previous camera with all my heart, but I love this new one even more! Hope you can convince your work that the camera upgrade is necessary. You know, if I’d realised how much difference a better camera would make to my photos (and that I wouldn’t need to become an expert photographer in order to use that better camera) I would’ve made the change much sooner!
These are gorgeous, TFP! I love the contrast between the two shots, and the first one with the bird – so restful! Around my place there are just houses and more houses *sigh* Looking forward to more ^_^
Thanks, Archie. I was hoping the bird would strike a truly majestic pose, like spreading its wings. But it just turned its head a couple of times, so that was the best shot I got. There are a lot more photos to come for sure!
Aren’t those apartments/condos across the way from a nice little eatery you recently featured on the blog? I seem to recall you ordered a crepe-like dish with sliced bananas and syrup (which turns out we both thought should have included a dollop of whipped cream)? Anyway, nice photos! Looks like a place to visit for sure.
Cindy,
Yes – this is the very same place (this was the post – Toast, East Perth). It is a lovely spot. I’m envious of the people who live there.
I’ve always thought your photos are great. They are even better now. I enjoy your posts so much. Always the first one I read. You are always interesting and informative. I have left a lot of blogs by the wayside, as I get bored with them. Not so with you. Thanks so much for the time and effort you put into this. I don’t want you to feel taken for granted! Hello to Jac!
Thanks, kathy. Hopefully I can keep writing posts and taking pictures that interest you. :) I understand people go through phases with blogs too – I’m never offended if people move on to other new interesting blogs. It’s just natural, with so many blogs out there to discover and enjoy. I don’t feel taken for granted at all, I feel chuffed that you enjoy it so much.
TFP, If I read a blog long enough, the blogger begins to feel like a friend.Albeit, one you’ve never met! Then, nothing they post is boring. You’re just catching up with a friend. :) Besides, with Magic Chef Jac and those precious kitties, how could you be boring?!
kathy,
It does get like that, doesn’t it? I often tell Jac how you guys all know our food likes and dislikes really well! On the question of getting boring – I do think once I hit the point there’s nothing new or interesting to blog about, I will have to stop.
