Imam bayildi - eggplant boat topped with onions, capsicum, tomato and herbs, braised in olive oil from Ottoman Cuisine

Restaurant review. Turkish fine dining in Canberra. Beautiful food, exquisitely presented. The fully vegetarian eggplant starter surprised and delighted this self-confessed carnivore! And I’ve been pining for strawberry sorbet ever since.

Dobinson’s Bakery Cafe, Civic, Canberra

Mexican beef pie from Dobinson's Bakery, Canberra

Eating local bakery pies is a holiday tradition for Jac and me. We had the Mexican beef pie, chicken and mushroom pie and giant sausage roll. But size isn’t everything! We’d go back to try more pies, but not for another sausage roll.

Vanilla panna cotta with passionfruit sauce

Restaurant review. Fusion cuisine with silver service. The chef’s tasting menu was a glutton’s delight featuring seafood, pork, beef, mushrooms and the delicious signature duck and shitake pancakes. Exquisite desserts. Highly recommended.

Back from Canberra

8 November 2010

We’re home from 6 days in Canberra. We had a great time. Unfortunately I developed a sore throat and cold while away – it’s such a bummer to be sick when on holiday! I didn’t have as much energy as I normally would have, but I didn’t let that stop me from eating lots of yummy food. I’ll be writing the Canberra blog posts as quickly as I can. I can’t wait to share it all with you.
