For dinner last Monday night we had oven-baked frozen crumbed fish fillets and beer battered thick-cut chips with steamed butternut pumpkin, broccoli and green beans. Jac had tartare sauce with her fish, and I had tomato sauce for my fish and my chips. Those beer battered chips are fantastic – they’re crunchy and salty and moreish. I’d happily eat crumbed and battered food every day if it wasn’t so bad for me. Fish and chips! Calamari rings! Shoestring fries! Fish fingers! Chunky potato wedges! Vegetable tempura! Chicken karaage! KFC Original Recipe! Chicken parmigiana! Any kind of crispy fried chicken! Italian-style crumbed veal cutlets! Crumbed lamb cutlets! Chicken McNuggets! Potato gems! Goreng pisang! Pineapple fritters! What else…?

Onion bhaji! Onion rings! Those strange spicy chicken things on a stick at KFC that have been calling my name! Corn dogs! Schnitzel! Chicken fried steak! Sweet potato fries! Corn fritters! Battered Spam!

I’ve always enjoyed a good Chicken Schnitzel sandwich! ;)

Me? I want artichoke tempura instead of fries… not the hearts, but the bottoms (fresh). And some fried oysters and clams (the whole belly kind from my home state of Massachussetts), and deep fried lobster is pretty dang good. And maybe some big scallops. That would be my dream fisherman’s platter.

mmmm Jalapeno poppers with ranch!

I always thought how nice it would be to have a built in deep fryer in my kitchen counter (like emeril lagasse) but seriously I can’t imagine how big I would be if I had access to a fryer…

Love love love fish & chips! If anything battered or crumbed and deep fried wasn’t bad for me I’d happily gobble it down everyday. I thought this wasn’t too bad though, with the inclusion of some healthy veggies. :)

Hmmm…I love anything deep fried and crumbed! Too bad though, I can’t find decent banana here to make goreng pisang :-)

Curry puffs! How could I have forgotten curry puffs?!

Su-Lin,
Thumbs up and drools to all of those! My grandma used to fry me up some battered SPAM every now and then. She’d serve me battered SPAM and rice for breakfast. :)
And yes, I love curry puffs! Actually, after you mentioned them I had such a craving for them I had to buy one on Wednesday arvo for a snack. :)
David,
Oooh yes, I love a chicken schnitzel sandwich or roll with lettuce and mayonnaise.
Hi deborah,
I really like tempura vegies but I’m not fond of artichokes – Jac would be with you on that one though, and on the oysters and clams. :) I love scallops but have never had deep fried lobster. I’d like to try that.
Bryan,
I’d never heard of those before, thanks for the link. We both really like the sound of them, definitely something we’d like to try. Agreed. If we had a deep fryer here I just know I’d be deep frying everything!
sormuijai,
Mmmm, they all sound great!
Hope you get over your sore throat soon.
dea,
Yeah. I’d eat deep fried food even more often if it wasn’t so bad for us. Fish and chips is one of my favourite junky meals. Especially love it on a cold winter’s night, or by a pier or near the beach.
bella,
Yeah. I’d love some fresh goreng pisang right now. Like from a road-side stall. Haven’t had that since I was a kid.
