Happy New Year
We had a relatively quiet New Year’s Eve. We went to MK’s hubby AK’s birthday party, where I ate some yummy chicken, sausage rolls and MK’s homemade custard puffs with Baileys in the custard. They were goooood. I had three of them.
When I reflect on 2005, four points of note come to mind:
Jac finally arrived in the 21st century and got her first mobile.
I added a fair amount to my CV including teaching my first classes, supervising exams, carrying out room audits at the university and presenting a paper at a university seminar. I made good progress on my PhD and got a pay rise on my scholarship. I’m still planning to submit my PhD around mid-February 2007, fingers crossed.
I built a computer from scratch for the first time, with my brother’s help. Less than a couple of months later, due to a crappy motherboard chipset fan I was forced to take it apart so I could bring the motherboard back to the shop, and then of course I had to put the computer back together again. I bought a new sound card and installed it with no problems whatsoever. I helped MK and AK install a new DVD burner in their computer. When money permits, I’ll be building a computer for Jac. Slowly slowly, I’ll get her using more technology!
Jac went to Sydney for 25 days, the longest we’ve been apart since we’ve been together. Absence does make the heart grow fonder (or lustier, hahaaahaha).
I’m not really in the mood to think too hard or write much. Before I go and make myself a cuppa, here’s a couple of photos.
The first breakfast of 2006: bacon and egg sandwiches, made with toasted multigrain bread. Jac knows just how I love my egg yolk, gooey. Mmmm, damn good.
And my dinner, also made by Jac (I’m so lucky she loves cooking. It’s not that I can’t cook, just that most of the time I can’t be bothered.).
