Two dinners and naughty Pixel (again!)

Tuesday night’s dinner: hoisin chicken and vegetable stir-fry. The sauce consisted of hoisin sauce, soy sauce and chilli sauce (the chilli sauce was a garlicky one leftover from our last trip to Spencer Village). The chicken was boneless skinless thighs. The vegetables were onion, garlic, cauliflower, carrot, broccoli and mushroom. Tasty tasty.

Last night’s dinner: a fish filet (I think it was shark) rubbed with lemon pepper and then panfried and served hot on top of salad (lettuce, carrot, cucumber, mushroom, cherry tomatoes and sundried tomatoes) tossed in Paul Newman’s ranch dressing. I had every intention of chucking a few of Jac’s homemade wholemeal croutons in, but completely forgot. Oh well. The fish was fantastic as was the salad (as you can see, quite heavily dressed). The sundried tomatoes gave a really lovely sweetness to the flavour of the dressing.

Pixel was mewing and putting her little paws on the table while Jac was preparing the dinner, asking for some fish. Even after the fish had been rubbed with lemon pepper she still seemed to think it smelled pretty good and kept pestering. She does understand what “No” means – she just chooses to ignore it when food is involved. And while we were eating our dinner and weren’t watching, I guess she decided to stop asking and hoping and just help herself – she jumped onto the kitchen bench and grabbed the extra piece of cooked fish right out of the pan and had nibbled some of it on the floor in the corner of the kitchen by the time we realised. So cute and so naughty! I don’t know if lemon pepper would’ve given her a tummy upset, but luckily she didn’t really get to eat much of it. When we scolded her and took the fish away she just looked defiantly and almost smugly at us as if to say “It was worth it!”

I finished the chapter this arvo and emailed it to my supervisor. My study needs a major tidy up – again. Books from arsehole to breakfast-time – again.
