Barbecue chicken, stuffing and salad

25 November 2008

I didn’t feel like doing much cooking last Monday night, so I picked up a barbecue chicken from a supermarket on the way home. I threw some fresh vegetables together – not really a salad – to eat with the chicken.

I ate the thigh and drumstick, – my favourite parts of the chicken – ...

Black forest birthday cake

24 November 2008

It was my workmate R’s birthday last Monday. She brought a black forest cake in for morning tea.

It looked pretty good, but I had no idea just how good it would be!

The chocolate sponge was soft and fluffy, but the best thing about this cake was that the layer of cherries in the middle wasn’t ...

Saturday with my folks

16 November 2008

Last Saturday was my first morning alone with Jac away in Sydney. I woke up around 7:30am, which for me is a sleep-in :). I had a cuppa, wrote a few emails, showered, got dressed and caught the train to visit my parents. I’d promised to help them choose and buy new ...

We didn’t go to the Royal Show this year; we’re due to ...

Fried egg toasted sandwich with gooey yolk

29 October 2008

If runny eggs gross you out, look away now!
If you love runny eggs, keep reading!

Here’s another mystery toasted sandwich J bought for me (click here to see the previous mystery sandwich)- this one’s a fried egg toasted sandwich on multigrain bread. Just look at that gooey, runny yolk. A pleasure to eat, a danger to ...

Pizza splurge

14 October 2008

We splurged recently (more a splurge diet*-wise than money-wise!) and had pizza home delivery from Domino’s for dinner. As usual, we got one of the two large pizza deals and chose a pizza each.

My choice was The Russian on Thin ‘n’ Crispy crust. I’m not sure what is supposed to be so Russian about this ...

Durian gelato ecstasy

12 October 2008

We parted company with C and P after our laksa feast. C and P wanted to have a good walk after eating all that laksa; I was intent on smothering myself in durian-flavoured gelato. My sister Juji had told me the Il Gelato shop on James Street sells it, and there was no way ...
